Our story isn’t like all other love stories you hear about. We weren’t high school sweethearts. It wasn’t a friends to lovers situation. It was something different; something unexpected. Devin grew up in Palmdale, CA and Dez in California City, CA. We were only a short drive away most of our lives and even crazier, as kids, we grew up only 10 mins away from each other in the San Fernando Valley. Visiting all the same places on Foothill Blvd and maybe sharing a glance and a tiny smile and wave as we passed each other by. Despite being so close, the time for the two of us to meet in this timeline just wasn’t in the cards yet. Fast forward 28 years later: Devin finally moved out leaving Palmdale behind, and Dez was settled in and living in Lancaster. Two souls who would be destined to meet, they just didn’t know it yet. “It’s A Match!” A swipe to the right and 3 magical words later, our lives would be forever changed. Our love story would finally begin… Well we would have to wait 15 more minutes because Dez was late to our first date at Lucky Luke Brewery. Devin had no idea this was just how she was and began to think the worst. Luckily, no pun intended, he was convinced by his good friend to hold out just a little longer. Once Dez finally showed, we both felt as if we’d known each other forever. That feeling never changed. It was and always had been Fate. On 2.2.22 we would take our relationship to the next level. Devin created a mini game of Jeopardy to test Dez’s knowledge on their relationship thus far. Whether it was cute or stressful, Dez was determined to get all the answers right. “What is, fuck yes?” Was the Final Jeopardy answer to the question: Will you be my Girlfriend? Soon after that, it was time for Devin and Adrian to meet. Adrian was shy at first, but Devin won him over with “the best day ever”, which was just a fun day at the park. In a short amount of time, they realized they were more alike than they could imagine. The bond they developed was as strong as the love between Dev and Dez. With a year of long distance, driving back and forth to the valley every weekend, we decided to move in together. It was like living with your best friend. Everyday was beautiful knowing our little family could finally start each day with each other, and find refugee with before bed. The apartment became our home. Our love grew through the ups and the downs. We celebrated our wins; cried and supported each other in tough times; and laughed our asses off when life was sweet. Proposing at that point wasn’t an “if?” but rather a “when?” How could Dez say no to a row boat lake proposal? Devin really made her feel like her favorite Disney Princess that day. There was no more perfect time than the present to begin the rest of our lives, building our future, together. San Francisco will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
