Our story began in the most unexpected place—Granada, Spain. We were both enrolled for a 2-week study abroad trip through our university. We were completely unaware that this adventure would change our lives. Though we had walked the same campus for 3 years, studied the same major, and even shared mutual friends, it wasn’t until this trip that our paths crossed. From the very start, we found ourselves gravitating toward each other—sharing laughs in class, exploring Spain on group excursions, and making memories during unforgettable nights out with friends. There was an undeniable spark between us. When we returned home from Spain, we made up every excuse we could to hang out again–grocery shopping, going out to eat, watching movies, and so much more. We were growing closer by the day and by the end of summer, we made it official. As our love grew, so did our lives—we graduated with our bachelor’s degrees, started our first “real” jobs, and moved in together.

Fast forward to our trip to Kauai, Hawaii, that we took with two of our closest friends. Before our dinner reservations, we decided to take a walk on Poipu Beach. As the sun was setting, Devin asked our friends to take our picture. All of a sudden, Devin got down on one knee and asked the question that would begin our forever. I was completely surprised and, of course, said yes! It was the most perfect moment. After sharing our news with family and friends, we went to dinner and celebrated.
