Devan first met Russell when he came in to the Summit Leasing Office in Athens, Ohio to inquire about an open Leasing Consultant position he had applied for over a week prior. Annoyed (and almost certain she had given it half a glance and thrown it away) Devan agreed to an interview for the next day. The two worked together from January until August before Devan took a travel position in the fall and Russell was on his way to relocating to San Antonio for a promotion of his own. The couple both look back on their time working together in Athens with extreme fondness — not only did they meet each other, but also some of their closest friends still today.
After enlisting the help of Devan’s mom, Carmen, to find the perfect ring, Russell spent most of the summer of 2019 with a BIG secret. He made sure to get the blessing of both of his parents, Donna and Greg and share the upcoming news with his big sister, Becky. Russell made a point to both show the ring to Devan’s dad, Jim, and follow up with a phone call before proposing. He attended his friend Cory’s wedding as a groomsmen in early August and caught a case of wedding fever. He came home that weekend and proposed to Devan on the couch with their four cats as witnesses. Followed by her favorite pizza, Creno’s, they spent the evening calling and Facetiming family and friends.
Russell and Devan knew from the start that they wanted a celebration that was uniquely their own. They can’t wait for their casual Sunday morning ceremony and brunch reception featuring lawn games and hopefully a daytime Browns game! With hints of travel and tasty treats, you’ll find tons of little details that speak to their favorite parts of their partnership. They have also decided not to have a bridal party, but rather enlist the help of their family and closest friends for special tasks and duties that honor the relationship they share with them. Many would say this is very nontraditional, however it is very "them."
