There are some truly gorgeous rentals in the area. I recommend getting a group of people together and renting a big house with a view of the gorge. Hood River just opened the area to Uber and Lyft as well so there are a few ride service options in addition to the taxi service they have there. If you find a house on Airbnb that you like, look it up on VRBO too, they typically have better policies and less fees.
