When I walked into my new church building at the start of a new semester at college, I saw all 6'3" of Desmond for the first time--greeting people, smiling, looking handsome--and from then on I had a major crush, though I was convinced he was 1000% out of my league. A month or so later, and my roommate was invited on a double date with his roommate along with Desmond and another girl--until she bailed. He texted my roommate to see if any of her roommates can come instead, and she asked me (thank you, Riley!) Over pickleball, ice-cream, and a goodnight walk home, we both knew we wanted to do this again. Over the next year, Mama Mia! and cinnamon roll-making, jet-ski rides, hours of studying, hospital stays, late-night walks and talks, long-distance dates, an abundance of gym time--among much, much more--led us onto a frozen river, where Desmond got down on one knee. Easiest question and answer of our lives.
Who made the first move? How? Desmond held Gracie's hand (gasp!) in the park after hours of talking and walking and swinging on the swings. Who's going to take out the trash? Nobody. We'd like a massive pile of garbage in our apartment. The dorkiest thing about us is... When it came time to propose, Desmond enlisted a large team of people from his nursing cohort, past mission companions, and even total strangers to make a small 3D-printed figure of himself on one knee. While this was fairly dorky, it should be kept in mind that the gesture was in reference to a similar figure Gracie had of herself. In her case, it was made at a much younger age and as she was donned in video game apparel. We are regulars at... The Hart Gym! We take pride in... Our ability to not only making amazing cinnamon rolls, but to change the way we make them in funky and fresh ways. Past contenders for best cinnamon roll variants include: cookies & creme, raspberry orange, and caramel apple.
