Ken and I met all the way back in September 2013 at a bar in the Highland area. (It is actually a pretty cute story, but we’ll save that for another time.) From there we decided to move in together in October 2015, and then bought our house in November 2016. May 2017 a stubborn little dachshund girl named Lizzie joined our family, making it complete. In March of 2019 Ken gave me the shock of my life by proposing to me at a cabin in Dahlonega. That brings us to current day- On April 25, 2020 we were all supposed to be at Frogtown drinking wine and dancing the night away. As they say, “the best laid plans oft go awry,” and this was no exception. The COVID-19 situation forced us to postpone our wedding until October. A year’s worth of planning and dreaming was suddenly dashed away. However Ken and I decided that we would honor the day that was always supposed to be ours by having a civil ceremony through Zoom. Sure there were glitches and a few hiccups thrown in, but it was an amazing day. We had nice wine, watched “Love Actually,” and cooked an amazing scallop dish- it was a perfect “Des and Ken” night. Looking toward October gives us a lot of joy that we will get to have the wedding of our dreams while also having honored our day. Ken and I cannot wait to finally be surrounded by our friends and family for the party that we first envisioned. We hope that everyone stays happy and healthy, and we’ll catch you on the dance floor ;). -Des and Ken
