Nicaragua is a surfer's paradise. With a mix of private and public beaches along two coasts, the Pacific Coast and the Caribbean Coast, there is plenty of surf to be had. The Pacific Coast is famous for its world class point breaks and beach breaks, making it a popular and well sought out surfer destination. The most popular Nicaragua surfing beaches are those near San Juan del Sur, such as Playa Maderas and Playa Majagual. A bit farther north, Playa Gigante and Popoyo also offer decent breaks. Much further north is less traveled so you’ll find less crowds.
Volcano Boarding is not for the faint-hearted. You will have to hike up Cerro Negro, which takes about an hour. Then the actual fun begins as you slide or surf down the 728-meter-high volcano in less than 5 minutes. And the speed, well that really depends on how fast you want to go!
