We met online (like all New Yorkers!) and Brian wrote Kat a poem which could have gone really bad but it was actually very accurate. After sharing it with her friends for a laugh, she re-read it and thought it was definitely worth one date. This is how it went: Good luck keeping up, she's off, passport in hand, Just please don't clap if this plane ever does land. From the mean streets of Coventry she hails and is proud, Tearing it up in USA, you'll find her laughing aloud. Strumming the guitar, stealing your heart with one song, She's a karaoke master, I should have known all along. A conglomerate of culture, she's Indian by way of Britian, To have one drink with her would make my heart smitten. So do me the honor of sharing with me your time, I promise there's much more to me than this silly rhyme :)
In true B-Rich form, it was a massive surprise and very casual. Just the two of us outside the house in Jersey City, on the sidewalk, on a Thursday evening. He wanted to go to the spot where they had their first kiss, and as a distraction, he presented a metal rose he had welded together (something he had originally made and she lost on their first date). This distraction worked! She had no idea. He had never met her parents before, in person but skyped with them behind her back, several times to ensure they were comfortable about him proposing. And so they knew he wasn't actually a mental person!
