Derrick and Demi met in a very classic, romantic way...a dating app. It was honestly very much a fateful event that brought them together. When they met, Derrick lived in Chapin, SC while Demi lived in Simpsonville, SC. If you know anything about dating apps, you know you can set your location to reach out to people within that radius. However, neither Demi nor Derrick had theirs set out far enough to reach each other. Luckily, Demi was in Columbia for the SC Bar Convention one fine January weekend when she opened her Hinge app to find Derrick. There is still speculation about who swiped right on who first. But there he was. Just what Demi had been searching for. A tall, liberal redneck. And there she was. Just what Derrick had been searching for. The most beautiful, funny, smart, kind, selfless (you can tell who wrote this) woman he'd ever met in his life. Derrick asked Demi out for a date. He drove to Simpsonville where they met at Warehouse at Vaughns and had nachos. At the end of the date, Derrick asked Demi for her number and she said yes, of course. They continued talking for several weeks. They spent their time meeting up in the big cities of Laurens or Clinton for dinners through the week and on the weekends, Derrick would drive up to Simpsonville to see Demi. After about two months of dating, Derrick decided to move to Simpsonville. He decided to move to Simpsonville for the following reasons: "I was going to move there anyway." "I have friends up there." "I just like it up there." We are all in agreement that he 100% did not move up to Simpsonville for Demi after only dating her for two months. Absolutely not. No way. They have pretty much been inseparable since. After about a year together, Demi moved in with Derrick and they have had a wonderful time living with one another and making their house a home. Demi and Derrick spend their summers by the pool and hanging out with the dogs. They enjoy traveling both with Demi's work and on their own accord. They enjoy going to music festivals and concerts where they have enjoyed all different types of music and take many fun pictures. They love the time they share and love each other very much. They can't imagine life without one another and are so grateful for that silly little app that brought them together.
