How It All Began

1998

They met when they were five years old and were on the same Kinder Kickers soccer team that happened to be coached by Dylan's dad, Jim. But it wasn't until years later in Middle school that they became friends and started hanging out with the same group at lunchtime. Katie then started developing feelings for Dylan during their Freshman year when he helped her learn how to play Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" on Guitar Hero. And later that year, the feelings became mutual as they explored New York City together during a band and choir field trip. Shortly thereafter, Dylan asked Katie if she would "go out with" him, to which she replied "okay."

The Dating Years

2008-2019

After almost four years of awkward teenage romance and winning the senior-yearbook title of "High School Sweethearts," they went off to rival Universities. And after four more years of long-distance and self-improvement, they embarked on their biggest journey yet: moving to Los Angeles. They got new jobs, made new friends, acquired two cats, started eating kale, moved back to Michigan, bought a house, and as their dating anniversary moved into the double digits, everyone began wondering, "when are they going to finally get married?"

The Proposal

6.08.2019

They decided to spend a weekend away in Ann Arbor to visit some of their favorite places and restaurants. It was a gorgeous day and they spent it walking around Kerrytown and the farmers market gathering supplies for a picnic. They then went to Nichols Arboretum where they found a perfect bench tucked into the trees with a private view overlooking the knoll. Dylan barely touched his food because he was so nervous, but once they finished eating he put on an acoustic version of the Bleacher's song "Let's Get Married," got down on one knee and proposed! This time, she said "yes."
