FAQs

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

While the official wedding ceremony start time is at 2:30 pm, we would recommend arriving about 15 minutes earlier to find your seats and get settled before the proceedings.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code is Semi-Formal: Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses. We would like everyone to be dolled up but also comfortable. Keep in mind, we are saying I do with a view, so dress for the wind.

Question

Will the ceremony and/or reception take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our ceremony will be outdoors and last only about 30 minutes. It is up a few stairs and to be held in the grass, so dress for comfort and for class. However, the reception will be indoors, though there is a small outdoor area with a firepit available.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

While we'd love to predict the exact forecast, a general idea of what the weather is typically like in Maine to help choose attire would be anywhere from 45-85 degrees. Clear as mud, we know, but the weather fluctuates in Maine during this time, so we'd like you to be prepared.

Question

How do I get to the wedding venue? Will transportation be provided?

Answer

We will provide a shuttle service for our guests. We will have shuttles from the ceremony to reception. You may leave your car at the ceremony spot and we’ll take it from there! The shuttles back from reception to the ceremony spot are at 9:45pm and 10:45pm

Question

Is there parking available at the wedding venue?

Answer

For guests who will be driving themselves, parking is available at the ceremony but NOT available at the reception venue. There is street parking available; however, we would recommend using the provided shuttle services.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

Although we would love to include everyone on our special day, regrettably, our chosen venue cannot accommodate children (ages 3-12). I know we have some recent newborns, with some more on the way. Toddlers (0-36 months) may be acceptable if you require them to attend.

Question

What type of food and drink will be served during the cocktail hour and reception?

Answer

Drinks will be the entirety of the Oxbow Brewery offerings (open bar). We'll serve a raw bar and light apps during cocktail hour. After that, there will be a round of heavier apps, then the main(e) meal buffet, followed by dessert. Since everyone will be up for a few days eating all the seafood Maine has to offer, we will be serving the Italian food pyramid of sauce, bread, and cheese in all its forms. Again, you might want to loosen your belts a little!

Question

I have dietary restrictions. What's the best way to let you know?

Answer

Guests who are gluten-free or have other dietary restrictions and/or allergies may contact us directly with any concerns. We are attempting to provide a diverse menu while keeping these concerns low. However, be warned, this is Maine, so there will be shellfish in the air!

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

There will be an open bar offering the entirety of the Oxbow Brewery, and there will be non-alcoholic drinks available as well.

Question

Have you booked hotel room blocks for guests?

Answer

Yes, we have a hotel room block at the La Quinta Hotel. We have a few recommendations on our "Travel" section for some hotels, though there is a myriad available in Portland. There are also many AirBnB and Inn options!

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

October 31st for the Pre-RSVP May 31st for the RSVP September 9th for the iRSVP (impoli répondez s'il vous plaît)

Question

I can't attend the wedding in person. Will there be a virtual wedding celebration?

Answer

There will be no virtual event available. We do apologize for this as we will not have the technical requirements during the festivities. A video will be made available to all that inquire.

Question

I'm visiting from out of town. What can I do while I'm in Portland?

Answer

Check the "Things to Do" section on our site!

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Your journey to celebrate with us is enough of a gift, and making memories in this beautiful destination together is more than we could ask for. However, should you wish to help us celebrate with a gift, we ask that you contribute towards the newlywed fund (See "Registry" tab).

Question

Will there be any other events to attend during the wedding weekend?

Answer

Check our "Schedule" section on the site, as this would provide all wedding-centric events. As for other events and activities, we would love for everyone to look at the "Things To Do" section of the site to get the ball rolling!

Question

What's your wedding hashtag?

Answer

You can use this hashtag on all social media to connect everyones photos and posts: #stopandsmellderosas

Question

When will the reception end? Will there be an after-party?

Answer

The Reception will end at 11 pm. There will be shuttles at 9:45pm and 10:45pm for everyone to use for their return back to the ceremony location. As for an After-Party, that’s gonna be a no for me, dawg.

Question

How will you communicate any updated information and/or changes before the wedding?

Answer

Mass wedding emails will be sent to each guest individually. We would ask if you can update your contact information here: https://www.zola.com/addr/x4AO96zQQ
