Old Orchard Beach
If the weather is nice, take the 15 minute drive to Old Orchard. There are rides for the kids at the far end, along with Pier Fries (so good!) and pizza. A favorite spot for our family vacations!

Try Maine Oysters. And their lobster roll. And a parrot drink or two (but seriously, you can only have two - they won't sell you more!).
Central Provisions
Try the bone marrow, in whatever form it comes in that day. Sit at the counter upstairs to watch the kitchen work. Or downstairs at the bar and let the bartenders make you any themed drink you can think of.

Excellent beers. Duck Fat shack outside for snacks (try the duck fat frites!).
Acadia National Park
Hike. Climb, Bike. Eat pop overs with butter and jam. Martha Stewart approves!
Standard Baking Co
Delicious pastries and breads. Must try for a light breakfast or treat with your coffee.

Portland Discovery Land and Sea Tours

Peaks Island
Take a 20 minute ferry ride from Portland to Peaks Island. Rent bikes or a golf cart and explore the island (it's about four miles around, but plenty of spots to stop and enjoy the views and take photos. If you go on Sunday, you have to hit up Reggae Sunday at Harbor View at Jones Landing.
