A favorite site for walking (plus stair climbing) and admiring the scenic falls. There's a natural pool at the base of the falls that is a designated swimming spot with a lifeguard. The gorge and rim trail loop totals about 1.6 miles and is usually fairly busy.
Another favorite place to admire a series of breathtaking falls. If you do the full gorge trail + rim trail loop, it's about 4.3 miles with plenty of vertical gain and descent with stairs. There is a mid-way point on the rim trail where you can cut over to the rim trail which makes it a 2ish mile loop. And of course you can also start at the top or the base of the trail and pick a turnaround point if you prefer an out-and-back. There's a swimming area at the bottom which is open when conditions permit. Treman is fairly busy on summer days, but still worth the experience.
Taughannock State Park is the site where we got engaged, and the pavilion by the lake is the venue for our welcome dinner! The waterfall isn't visible from the pavilion, but it's easy to get to. If you don't have time for a hike, you can drive to the falls overlook on Taughannock Park Road. If you are looking for a light walk, the Gorge Trail is a 1.5 mile flat out-and-back walk from the main parking lot, and it takes you to the base of the falls. If you're looking for a walk with more elevation and a bit more distance, you can start at the overlook and walk the North Rim Trail down to Taughannock Blvd, then cross over the bridge to connect to the Gorge Trail - that route is about 3.5 miles when you go from the overlook to the base of the falls and back.
Stewart Park is located on the South side of Cayuga Lake. It's a nice spot for a lakeside stroll or a picnic under the willow trees. There's also a bird sanctuary, a children's playground, and tennis courts. If you want to explore the lake itself, you can rent kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards from Paddle-N-More at Stewart Park. There are also Paddle-N-More rentals at Taughannock State Park and Myers Park.
