Our fairy tale starts just like so many other millennial love stories do – on an app on our phone, Coffee Meets Bagel. We matched on June 28th, 2017, and after a conversation that ranged from what we did for a living, travel, and hometowns, we agreed to meet. For Cecilia, this was her 3rd date arranged by an iPhone app… for Derek, it was about his 300th. But as he likes to say – it takes 10 dates to find someone worth a second date, 100 dates to find someone you truly connect with, and a lifetime to find a Cecilia. We have had a wonderful relationship for the nearly three years that have followed our first handful of dates; we’ve driven the California coast, frequented Central New York’s best hiking trails, traveled to England, competed together in two triathlons, binged our favorite date-night shows on Netflix, and, of course, moved into our first shared home last year. Our journey together has been an amazing experience filled with laughter, joy, happiness, and true love – and the best part is that we’re still just at the beginning of our story! We’re honored to have you all as part of our special day in August, where we write another important chapter in the book of Cecilia and Derek.
