Who would have guessed back in 2006, two coworkers would become soulmates. In 2006, I joined the F-22 program. It was then that we met. I volunteered to run the snack bar for the fourth floor. Guess you could say she was responsible for everyone's sugar and caffeine addiction. We collected the money for the snack bar in large Folgers coffee containers. Periodically a full can would appear on my desk, but I had no idea who was doing it. I saw Mark daily. He worked two cubes down from me. He never said much to me and frankly, I thought he was weird, nice but weird. After several years, I went to another program. Shortly after, the F-22 Program was moved to Fort Worth. Two years later I moved to Fort Worth. That's when the magic happened. I was in the cafeteria one day and Mark says he saw me, but he didn't say anything. Instead he enlisted the assistance of our mutual friend, Brian Unterwagner, to arrange a lunch. It was then that I saw Mark for the first time in years. I'm not sure what clicked, but I had to get to know him.
Our first date was on July 30, 2015, at Max's Wine Dive in Fort Worth. The restaurant may have been full, but it felt like it was just the two of us. It was then that we became friends and confidants. Our first kiss was on a bench, "our bench", in Sundance Square.
It was our one year anniversary. We had dinner at Max's Wine Dive that was made more special by the wine sent to our table from Mark's Brother Troy and Sister-in-Law Ranell. After dinner, we went to "our bench" in Sundance Square. Mark got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Despite being in utter shock, I managed to say yes. The rest is history!
