We're Getting Married!

The initial plan was going to be simple: Visiting Catalina Island- an intimate walk near the water on our Anniversary to pop the question. Then head back home and have a celebration with friends and family letting them know about the proposal. Little did I know that that plan would be spun around on its head! Brenda found out that Denisse would "love if her family was around her if she got proposed to." I immediately got to planning. The ring that I had hidden in my backpack had to be transferred. I got home late from work and called Denisse's mom to take the ring from me. I asked Alicia and Brenda to help me with planning on how to get our immediate family and friends to Catalina Island. Because the plans changed so suddenly, we weren't able to get boat rides to Catalina to arrive at the same time. Alicia, Gabe and my parents were going to be arriving earlier. I had to lie. I told Denisse that I had planned a trip to Catalina Island for my mom's birthday since she had never been. The perfect cover. Denisse's family would be there later in the day. We spent some time golf-karting around Catalina until I "needed to go to the bathroom." Denisse's family would be arriving soon. I asked my family to drop us off at our hotel. While I was "going to the bathroom," I was frantically texting Brenda and Alicia to make sure that everyone got grouped up and was waiting where I wanted to propose. Denisse was getting antsy and didn't want to spend the day at the hotel so we started to head over to the spot. As we were walking, I found out that the whole group wasn't together yet. I asked Denisse if she wanted to head off of the road to be near the water. I was keeping an eye out on the road until I finally saw the golf kart bringing the rest of the family to the spot. It's on! "Hey, Denisse! That's enough playing in the water. Let's go walk some more!" Reluctantly she agreed. We walked onto the group and Denisse realized something was happening when she saw her dad tearing up.

El plan era visitar la isla Catalina en nuestro aniversario para hacer la pregunta. Luego regresar a casa y celebrar con amigos y familiares para decirles sobre la propuesta. ¡Poco sabía yo que ese plan se daría vueltas en su cabeza! Brenda descubrió que a Denisse "le encantaría que su familia estuviera cerca de ella si le propusieran matrimonio". Immediatamente me puse a planificar. El anillo que tenía escondido en mi mochila tuvo que ser transferido. Llegué tarde a casa del trabajo y llamé a la mamá de Denisse para que me quitara el anillo. Les pedí a Alicia y Brenda que me ayudaran a planificar cómo llevar a nuestra familia y amigos a Catalina. Debido a que los planes cambiaron tan repentinamente, no pudimos conseguir paseos en bote a Catalina para llegar al mismo tiempo. Alicia, Gabe y mis padres iban a llegar antes. Tuve que mentir. Le dije a Denisse que había planeado un viaje a Catalina para el cumpleaños de mi mamá, ya que ella nunca había estado. La funda perfecta. La familia de Denisse estaría allí más tarde ese día. Pasamos el tiempo jugando en karts de golf hasta que "tuve que ir al baño". La familia de Denisse llegaría pronto. Le pedí a mi familia que nos dejaran en nuestro hotel. Mientras estaba "en el bano", estaba enviando mensajes de texto frenéticamente a Brenda y Alicia para asegurarme de que todos se esperaran donde quería proponer. Denisse se estaba poniendo ansiosa y no quería pasar el día en el hotel, así que comenzamos a dirigirnos al lugar. Mientras caminábamos, descubrí que todo el grupo aún no estaba junto. Le pregunté a Denisse si quería salirse de la carretera para estar cerca del agua. Estuve atento a la carretera hasta que finalmente vi que el kart de golf traía al resto de la familia al lugar. ¡Esta encendido! "¡Oye, Denisse! Ya es suficiente jugar en el agua. ¡Vamos a caminar un poco más!" A regañadientes ella estuvo de acuerdo. Caminamos hacia el grupo y Denisse se dio cuenta de que algo estaba pasando cuando vio a papá llorando.
