Our wedding ceremony will take place at the Mission Basilica, the present day parish located at Mission San Juan Capistrano. Founded in 1776, Mission San Juan Capistrano was a Spanish mission in colonial Las Californias. It contains the Serra Church, the oldest building in California that is still in use, and the ruins of "The Great Stone Church", a renowned architectural wonder (which was all but leveled by an 1812 earthquake).
Only walking distance from Mission San Juan Capistrano, the Los Rios Historic District is a small neighborhood in San Juan Capistrano. It is the oldest continually occupied neighborhood in the state of California, with buildings dating to 1794. Unique art shops and quaint cafes occupy this historic street.
The Ramos House Cafe is a great brunch spot located within the Los Rios Street Historic District. We brought our moms to Sunday brunch here to celebrate the weekend after our engagement.
