Hotel Chicago Downtown, Autograph Collection

Located in River North, the neighborhood where Edward lives and which is good for nightlife and proximity to tourist sights. This Marriott hotel is a 13-minute walk from Assumption Church. The nightly rate for a standard room is $249. This rate is available from Tuesday, October 18, through Wednesday, October 26, for those who are arriving in Chicago early or leaving late. It is easier to book online, but you can also call and ask for the "Valero/Ficht Wedding Room Block." The reservation deadline is Friday, September 30, 2022.

Shuttle

Shuttle from the church to the reception

October 22, 2022 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Two coach buses will shuttle guests from the church to the reception. Each bus will make two trips and can carry up to 56 passengers per trip (112 total per wave). The first wave will leave as soon as possible after the end of the ceremony (around 4pm), with the second wave about a half hour later. If you miss the first wave, the church may not allow you to wait inside due to a mass later that afternoon, but there is a courtyard next to the church. There is limited covered space on the steps in front of the church. If weather is bad, you cannot find cover, and you miss the first wave, please accept our apologies and feel free to make your own way over to the reception via Uber, Lyft, or taxi. We kindly request guests who are driving from the church to the reception to allow fellow guests to carpool. We will NOT be providing transportation to the church or after the reception. For the safety of our guests, it is recommended to use Uber or Lyft, get a taxi using the Curb app (it's almost impossible to flag down a passing taxi these days in Chicago), or use public transportation. Parking is quite pricey at Navy Pier. If using rideshare or a taxi, please request to be dropped off at Offshore (1000 East Grand Avenue)--not just Navy Pier--because Offshore is over a half mile walk from the start of the pier!

Sable at Navy Pier Chicago, Curio Collection by Hilton

This hotel is at a higher price point, but it is located right next to the reception venue. However, the downside is that no other tourist sights other than Navy Pier itself are walking distance from Sable. Nightly rates: $329 for a standard king, $349 for standard double queens, and $429 for a corner king. Please note that a 2-NIGHT MINIMUM STAY IS REQUIRED. A deposit for 1 night is due at the time of reservation and is refundable only up to 5 days in advance of arrival. The cancellation policy for this reservation is different than the hotel's standard cancellation policy. It is easier to book online, but you can also call and ask for the "Valero Ficht Wedding" group block. The reservation deadline is Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Denise & Edward will be staying here the night of the wedding. However, please note that all places at Navy Pier, include the bar at Sable, will close prior to the end of the reception, so there will be nowhere there to have an after-party.

Travel Note

Parking

At the church, there is free covered parking next door in the 311 West Illinois Building. The parking entrance is on Franklin Street, southeast of the church. However, spots may be limited. Street parking is also available for $4.50 per hour, with a 2-hour limit. If you plan on parking at Navy Pier, valet parking at Sable Hotel (next to Offshore) is the best option and costs $35 for up to 8 hours, with validation at Offshore. Self-park rates at Navy Pier East Garage are $37 for up to 6 hours, and $42 for up to 12 hours.
