What to Expect at a Jewish Wedding
CHASSAN'S TISCH
The Tisch (Yiddish for table) is a traditional wedding event before the ceremony, the groom gathers with family and friends for singing, toasts, and words of Torah. It’s lively, informal, and everyone is welcome to stop by. There will be a cocktail hour as well.
BEDEKEN (VEILING)
A moving moment when the groom sees the bride and places her veil. It is a beautiful tradition symbolizing love and spiritual connection.
CHUPPAH
Held under a canopy representing the couple’s new home, the ceremony includes the Sheva Brachot (seven blessings), ring exchange, reading of the ketubah (marriage contract), and ends with the breaking of a glass.
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN TO YOUR WEDDING?
We love your little ones and appreciate that you want them to celebrate with us! However, please use this opportunity to have a date night. With the exception of family, the event will be adults only.
