Neither Ian nor Dena expected that moving to Atlanta to begin their respective careers would be the catalyst for their love story. Ian moved to Atlanta in July 2018, after graduating from college, and back to New York in November 2019. Though a relatively short stint in the Peach State, he made an impression and relationships to last a lifetime before settling on the Upper West Side. Little did he know that across the park just a year later, Dena was moving into a studio apartment to begin her graduate studies on the Upper East Side. Did they pass each other once or twice in Central Park? Were they ever at adjacent dinner tables at the same Jewish Young Professionals event? Who knows. Dena moved to Atlanta in 2022, ready to start fresh and maybe - hopefully - find *the one.* Over a year passed with no luck dating in the south, and she had just started worrying she got herself into a tough spot in the dating scene by moving to a city with just 5% of the Jewish population on the NYC Metropolitan area, when she got invited to a Shabbat lunch. There, she ate some delicious food and mindlessly did a little happy food dance. Laurie, a friend of Ian's from his time in Atlanta, noticed the little jig and sprung into action, insisting on setting up this girl she met one hour ago with this nice tall redhead from New York who just so happens to do the exact same dance. Immediately after Shabbat ended, she called Ian, stating "I met your future wife." Only a crazy person would have taken Laurie seriously. But that crazy person would be right, because 17 months later, after countless Facetime dates, texts, journeys to and from New York and Atlanta, and even a 3-week international trip together, Ian and Dena got engaged! And they are beyond excited to celebrate and do many happy little dances with all of their loved ones. We hope you can celebrate our love story with us!
