I was born and raised around the Chesapeake/Norfolk area. Jake grew up in Gloucester and then headed for Longwood University, where he got his degree in exercise physiology. He made his way to this side of town to start working as a personal trainer, where he met Conner, who he knew would be a lifelong friend. Conner and one of my best friends Gabby, tried to play matchmaker and threw the idea of Jake and I meeting for months. I was in my last year of nursing school at Old Dominion when Jake finally reached out. We both can agree we knew we met our partner for life before the end of that first date. It wasn't long after that Jake, myself, Emma (my 1st roommate), and 2 big ole dogs crammed into our tiny Ghent apartment on Harrington avenue. Just over 2 years later, Jake proposed in our living room on October 23rd, 2021. Side note- Jake decided that night it was too late to propose, so he tried to hide the ring in a pumpkin before I got home. When I walked in the door- bubba leaped over the couch, knocked the pumpkin over, and the ring fell at my feet. Jake said "Well, I guess we're doing this now" and then he was down on one knee. Four years down the road- Jake is now a Paramedic/FireFighter for Newport News and I'm an ER nurse at Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters. We bought our first home about 2 years ago in Portsmouth, Virginia. Our favorite times are having coffee in the morning, hiking in the mountains, out in the garden, in the sunshine on the beach, and as much time with our family and friends when our crazy schedules allow it. Our hound dog Hank and Weimaraner Bubba have been along for the ride every step of the way.
