We met during the first wave of the Pandemic. Delaney was in Belgium for her Fulbright, and everything was locked down. Sander's basketball season ended early, so he was home in Ghent for the summer. There wasn't much to do except browse on Tinder, and fortunately, we both swiped right! For our first date, we met at a bus stop near a park. Sander almost went home because Delaney was 50 minutes late (she got lost on her bike). But he's glad he waited! We played some basketball in that park and talked for hours. The next week, we had our second date in the same park. Sander charmed Delaney with some fancy grilled cheese sandwiches, and Delaney won him over with her Bailey's cupcakes. Four years later, we got engaged in the same park! In that time, we built a strong foundation in our moments together and our moments apart. We had each other's backs through graduate school, championship wins, and countless hours of jet lag. We are excited to formally begin our lives together and celebrate our love with you this summer!
