How We Met

Shout out to Raytheon

We met at work! Paul and Delaney are both software engineers, and when Delaney came to work at Raytheon in Marlborough, MA, we caught each other's attention. The very first time Paul and Delaney went to the cafeteria to get tea, Paul introduced Delaney to his mom Roberta (who also worked there)! Pretty quickly we were spending all of our time eating tacos and hiking in New Hampshire together. Our careers have changed since then, but we are happily once again working at the same company as software engineers.

How He Proposed

September 25, 2023

After fearing the trip would be cancelled because of a snow storm the day before our start date, we embarked on a 5 day backpacking trek on the Teton Crest Trail. We were elated each morning when we woke up to crisp fall air and not a cloud in the sky - absolutely perfect autumn hiking weather. Each day was filled with incredible views, yet on the third day we got to a view point looking at the Grand Teton that had us hooting and hollering because it was so breathtaking. We set up a self timer photo, and when Paul popped the question, Delaney's first response was, "You got me!" and then of course, "Yes!"

The Engagement Ring

"Greenie"

Delaney likes to say that the Montana sapphire in her ring never left the state of Montana until it left in Paul's pocket to head to the Teton Crest Trail. Delaney wasn't sure what kind of ring she wanted until a friend of a friend mentioned "Montana sapphires". Right away the idea took hold, and soon Paul and Delaney were on a road trip through Montana on the hunt for the perfect Montana sapphire. After inspecting hundreds of different colored stones in a dozen gem stores, only one sapphire inspired a nickname - and "Greenie" came home with us to Big Sky. We love that we will forever have this piece of Montana with us as a beautiful reminder of this special time and place that has shaped our love.

The First Move

This meeting is pretty dry...

Paul and Delaney were at a department-wide meeting at work when Delaney got a text that read, "This meeting is pretty dry... makes me want a margarita," and the rest is history.
