Currency
The Dominican Peso is the official currency in Punta Cana, however, the US dollar is widely accepted. We recommend having both on hand, especially on tours and excursions. Tipping is not expected at all-inclusive resorts, however some travelers feel obliged to tip key staff that go above and beyond in their services, such as the bellhop, shuttle driver, housekeeping, and/or spa employees.
