Sebastian and Luca knew each other from German junior tennis tournaments, but became close friends after Sebastian convinced former UC Irvine tennis coach to give Luca a spot on the team. Between pushing Luca's scooter to tennis practice, working together (sometimes too closely) on class assignments, and getting Sebastian through most imaginable illnesses and injuries, they spent most of their college time living, studying, practicing, and competing together.

Deena is so excited to have Lara, Luca's niece, as one of her bridesmaids. Lara and Deena met 5 years ago in Germany, where she welcomed Deena into the Marquard family with open arms. Deena will never forget her kindness and is so excited to have such a fun-loving, smart, and beautiful family member to hold such a special position on their big day!

Nico Mertens

Nico and Luca met during Luca's first year at UC Irvine, during which Luca became Nico's and Sebastian's part-time roommate for nights before morning practices. When they later lived by the beach together with V, Anil, and Sebastian, everyone quickly learned to fear Nico's rigorous workout routines almost as much as they came to love returning to the house to find house-mom and chef Nico waiting with a home-cooked meal. Nico may be a fierce competitor on the tennis court, but beware if you face him at a pool table.

Jessica Haddad

Deena and Jessica met 4 years ago at a pre-dental volunteer event. Since then, the two have been inseparable -- enjoying daily sleepovers as roommates, dinner nights at Ebaes (their favorite sushi spot in LA), and gathering the girls together for homemade dinner + movie nights. Their dream is to go through the process of pregnancy together and for their kids to be best friends!

Thomas Ryan

Thomas and Luca met during their freshman year at Pepperdine. If not for Luca having already decided to room with Nico (no regrets there), Thomas and Luca would have become roommates. Luckily, they ended up in the same dorm anyway. Desperate to surf, but with neither a car to get to the beach nor a board to surf with, Luca's time at Pepperdine would have been a lot less enjoyable if Thomas had not come to the rescue. When Thomas moved back home for summer but Luca still lived on campus during summer school, Thomas picked up Luca nearly every day for a month to take him to surf, lunch, and surf again. Aside from having probably the best month of his life, Luca knew he had a found a great friend.

Andie Guite

Deena and Andie met while they were members of the USC pre-dental club. While Andie does not technically live with Deena and Jess, she is an "honorary roommate" and has a blow up mattress set up in their kitchen where she crashes almost every night. The two are hardcore study buddies, oftentimes studying together until 3 am. Deena's favorite memory is when she and Jessica submitted an application for the Bachelor on Andie's behalf.

Patrick Dumas

Patrick and Luca met during Luca's first year at UC Irvine. Entrepreneur, functional artist, billboard celebrity, and pretend professor, it is hard to capture the phenomenon that is Patrick Dumas. As neighbors on 28th street on the Newport Peninsula, Patrick and Luca often began their days by waking the other to surf together. Lately, however, waking up Patrick for a surf session has become increasingly difficult, and even once at the beach he has been spending more time talking to Deen in the sand than with Luca in the water. Patrick's ability to talk to anyone about anything make him both the neighborhood favorite and the life of any party.

Aree Lozano

Aree and Deena met during their sophomore year of high school, 9 years ago, and have remained close ever since. They have shared such special memories together - football games, after school Starbucks dates - and continue to make new memories together.

Antoine Barthe

Antoine and Luca met when Antoine joined the UC Irvine tennis team. They quickly became friends despite having to keep their conversations simple on account of Antoine's limited english ability (which, however, never impeded Antoine's stellar academic performance) and Luca's equally questionable french. With Antoine turning out the be the surfing teammate Luca had been waiting for, the two spent many memorable mornings in the water together, among them the day that Antoine gave up priority to allow Luca to take the wave that would become his first barrel.

Bree Lozano

Bree and Deena met in high school and have continued their friendship throughout the years. As high schoolers, they always talked about being in each other's weddings. This year, they have the special and unique opportunity to be planning their own weddings together and serving as each other's bridesmaids!

Nico Baez

Nico and Luca met on their first day at Pepperdine. Even though they became roommates without knowing each other before, it was instantly clear that two friends had found each other. From late-night snacks at the HAWC and even later last-minute study sessions to early morning sprints to make it to practice on time, and from Luca's surprise birthday at STAPLES center to getting caught drifting in the campus parking lot, Nico and Luca were inseparable. If not for Luca leaving Pepperdine on account of their tennis coach (now former coach, largely thanks to Nico's efforts), they would have remained roommates for many more years with many more memories.

Renee Salem

Deena met Renee during the first month of dental school. They enjoy spending weeknights with their group of friends and spending their Sundays in the lab together, preparing and restoring teeth in mannequins. Renee is a member of the USC cheer team and is ready to cheer on Deena before her big day!

Anil Patel

Anil and Luca met during orientation of their first year at UC Irvine. Almost crashing Luca's scooter between the tennis courts, actually hitting a pole while skateboarding Mesa parking structure, sending it in overhead waves on his first day on a body board, and surviving his first surf session with a bloody nose, close calls are inevitable when spending time with Anil. He may do more burpees in a minute than you can do push-ups and have spent more time doing pull-ups on playgrounds than practicing tennis, but if you ever have the misfortune of meeting him on the tennis court, whatever you do, don't let him hit a running forehand.

Maia Lee

Deena met Maia in the sim lab during their first year of dental school. While having a UCLA grad in the bridal party was a hard pill for Deena to swallow, she is excited to have Maia by her side during her big day and to watch her stellar moves on the dance floor!

Preston Rogers

Preston and Luca met at UC Irvine and became close after Luca somehow passed tryouts for the UCI surf team (he later found out they let anyone join). Even though their surf competitions were only successful if participating was the only goal, few could match the fun they had on their trips. From memorable surf sessions at Trestles to karaoke at a biker gang filled bar on a waveless surf trip to Mexico, Preston and Luca always find reasons to be stoked. With plenty more surf and soon snowboard sessions to come, Preston's and Luca's long, sometimes sophisticated, and often philosophical conversations about anything from relationships to business to the meaning of life are far from over.

Ayesha Soni

Ayesha was the first person Deena met in dental school and is one of her closest friends. As huge Los Angeles Lakers fans, the two became close after experiencing a Los Angeles NBA Championship win last year. Ayesha was also a huge support for Deena during her ovarian cyst problems, sharing notes, checking in on her, and bringing her a basket of goodies after surgery. Deena feels so lucky to have someone as amazing as Ayesha in her bridal party.

Vatsal Bajpai

V and Luca met during orientation of their first year at UC Irvine. Co-founding the Apple Juice Crew, making Luca an honorary member of the Freshman Alliance Against Hazing, and sneaking him into the freshman dining hall for free all-you-can-eat (which rarely amounted to more than a glass of milk and a cookie for V), V, Anil, and Luca were clearly mature beyond their years. While V and Luca accomplished many things together, from tandem skateboarding Mesa parking lot to teaching V how to crack an egg, getting V to gain weight appears to be a task only age will accomplish.

Deena met Erika in dental school, where their bond became as strong as OptiBond composite adhesive! Deena loved Erika's sweet, but "no nonsense" personality and feels so lucky that their paths have crossed. When they aren't in lab practicing drilling together, you can find the two at Fashion Island or at their apartment having a good belly laugh.

Mason Hansen

Mason and Luca met when Mason joined the UC Irvine tennis team. Even after his meteoric rise through the ranks of the team, it remains unclear whether Mason plays better than he looks or vice versa. Tennis may not even be Mason's number one sport, because Luca has seen first hand that when Mason grabs a Basketball and goes up to dunk, it is best to be on his team and far away from falling hoops. While his status as the tallest guy on the team remains hotly debated, Mason clearly was never the fastest. As Team-trip-roommates and doubles partners both in and after college, Mason and Luca are an iconic duo on and off the court.

Maddie Marshall

Deena and Maddie met through mutual friends during their freshman year of high school. From then on, they were inseparable and referred to each other as “sisters from another mister”. When they weren’t discussing dramatic high school breakups, you could find them both eating frozen yogurt at Golden Spoon and dancing at house parties.

Bruce Man Son Hing

Bruce and Luca met when Bruce joined the UC Irvine tennis team. Luca will always be grateful to Bruce for helping him, a baseline-only singles player, into the doubles lineup, even though Bruce soon left Luca for doubles specialist V. If during the time they lived together Bruce had spent more time on the court and less time napping, V and Bruce may have had a higher success rate in their doubles against Mason and Luca. While Luca was able to help Bruce with his backhand, how Bruce managed to hit the fastest forehand on the team will forever remain a mystery to Luca.
