David Oom

Best Man

David and I met as fraternity brothers in Theta Tau, but our friendship really grew after college. Over the years, we've shared countless breakfasts at Big Ed's whenever he visited Raleigh, and more recently, we've started meeting halfway in Hillsborough to explore the local restaurant scene. David is truly the kindest, most caring person I know, and I’m honored to have him by my side. He and his wife are expecting their first child, and I have no doubt he's going to be an incredible father.

Heather Alers-Hankey

Maid of Honor

Heather and I met during our junior year at NC State when we were randomly paired as roommates at University Glen. What started as a coincidence quickly turned into one of the most important friendships in my life. Some of my favorite memories are the holidays we spent together in our apartment—just the two of us, making the most of being far from home. Over the years, we’ve seen each other through so many seasons of life, and she has always been someone I could count on. Whether we’re crafting, catching up over coffee, or just being there for each other, Heather has been a constant source of love and support. I’m so lucky to have her standing beside me on such a special day.

Jake Ray

Groomsman

Jake is also one of my brothers from Theta Tau. We both went to NC State for Civil Engineering, and his support played a key role in helping me secure an internship during college but also has served as a great professional mentor for me when necessary. He now lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with his amazing wife, but despite the distance, he’s still one of my closest friends. He’s got more swag than anyone I know, but underneath he is one of the most hardworking and resilient people you’ll ever meet.

Emory Metcalfe Oom

Bridesmaid

I got to know Emory through Nick's best friend and her husband, David. From the beginning, she’s been warm, genuine, and someone I instantly clicked with. We’ve shared so many fun memories, from pumpkin patch days to meeting halfway in Hillsborough for dinner, and ringing in the New Year together. Emory has been such a huge help during wedding planning by keeping me sane, offering honest (and much needed!) opinions, and always being just a call away. She’s also expecting her first baby, and I already know she’s going to be an amazing mom. I’m so grateful for her friendship and her support during this special time.

Darren McCaughan

Groomsman

Another brother from Theta Tau, Darren stands out as the most athletic of the group - whether it’s basketball, rock climbing, or disc golf, he’s a natural. We were college roommates and shared plenty of great memories, but what I appreciated most was always having a friend to get outside and stay active with (even if he was better than me at everything!). I’m lucky to be his friend and am excited to have him standing with me.

Haley Prakke

Bridesmaid

I met Haley when we both started new jobs at Teleflex. She was a month ahead of me, but it didn’t take long for us to become fast friends. Together with Chloe and Ashley, we started a little marketing lunch group that quickly became one of the highlights of my work days. We had a blast on work trips, whether it was poorly playing pickleball in Greensboro or having way too much fun with arcade games and karaoke in Dallas. Though I miss having her around at Teleflex, I’m so grateful to have her standing with me on my big day!

Steve Stewart

Groomsman

Steve and I met while co-oping at B/E Aerospace, which kicked off a friendship that ended up shaping a lot of my college experience. He’s the reason I joined Theta Tau, where I met many of the other groomsmen and other close friends. Steve’s one of the most genuine people I know, and someone I always enjoy having over whether it’s for a meal like hot pot or BBQ, a backyard fire, or just catching up. I’m lucky to call him a friend and to have him standing with me on the big day.

Kenzie Ray

Bridesmaid

Kenzie and I first met junior year at NC State as randomly assigned roommates at University Glen. While we started out as roommates, we truly became close friends during our senior year of college. Kenzie has been such a calming presence in my life, always bringing a sense of peace and perspective. I love our adventures, whether we’re trying new restaurants or getting up super early to enjoy dim sum together. I’m so excited that she’ll be getting married just a couple of weeks after me, and I can’t wait to celebrate with her and her fiancé!
