Rick and Deby had a chance encounter at a restaurant/bar in downtown Missouri in 2010. They met through a mutual friend and hung out together through out most of that night. Rick was taken by Deby’s outspoken nature and Deby was immediately attracted to Rick’s shy, but confident demeanor. Only one problem, nothing came of that night. They went their seperate ways that evening only to be reunited 10 years later. Deby was attending a playoff Blues hockey game with her Dad and 4 sisters. Her Dad had surprised them all and flown in her older sisters Carrie and Christine to the game. Low and behold, Rick and his best friend (and Best Man) Ryan were sitting directly behind them. Deby’s sisters kept saying, “that guy is staring at you”, but Deby was there with her Dad and let’s just say…you don’t draw attention to a man while her Dad is around. After some awkwardness and wondering who was going to acknowledge who first, Deby broke the ice and ended up turning around in her seat to say a “quick” hello. To Deby’s surprise, her Dad asked later in the night, “who was that young man?” Deby told him, “just an old acquintance. Don’t worry Dad.” Her Dad quickly responded, “he stepped aside to let me walk ahead up the stairs as he was coming down..that’s important. I liked that.” That was all that was said between them. Some say, Deby’s Dad knew before she did. The next week Deby had a message on her social media from Rick saying it was great to see her and asking to take her out to dinner. That dinner date would be postponed for over 7 MONTHS (yes you read that right) due to “cold feet”, Deby’s broken ankle, and some bad timing but on February 10th 2020 that all changed as they (finally) went to Louie for their first date. They’ve been inseperable ever since.
