Hi everyone! We are so excited to celebrate with you on October 1st for our wedding! We wanted to share some updates on health and safety to mitigate the spread of Covid during our celebration. - Our current understanding is that everyone attending the celebration is vaccinated. If that isn't the case, reach out to us ASAP and we can discuss the best path forward! - Due to the rise in asymptomatic cases, we are asking that everyone take a covid test prior to their arrival at the wedding. There are drive-through CVS and Walgreens testing options less than a mile from the venue, numerous free testing sites in Providence/Boston, and there are multiple at-home tests you can order on Amazon or find at CVS. Rapid tests are fine! - The wedding reception is outdoors in a tent, but the ceremony itself is indoors. We'll likely ask that those in attendance wear a mask during the ceremony. - If you are worried about your health or exposure, please don't feel obligated to attend. We are setting up a zoom for the ceremony with my grandmother in Kentucky and would be happy to add you to that as well. If you are planning to stay home, kindly let us know by August 30th so that we can plan accordingly.
The address for Shepherd's Run is 4780 Tower Hill Road, South Kingstown, RI 02879 Please note there is a "Shepherd's Run" in Westerly Rhode Island, this is NOT the address of our venue - Be sure to go to South Kingstown! The property is located just behind Prout High School off of Highway 1. To access the property look for two stone pillars directly North of the stoplight at Hampton Way. Proceed down the long asphalt driveway with Prout High School located on your left. At the end of the driveway proceed straight through the fenced property. Follow the signs to the guest parking area. It is located on the right side prior to entry into the motor court area. Short term parking for loading and unloading of luggage is also marked just prior to the motor court. Guests staying at the Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn can walk to the venue if they'd like, but know that the walk includes crossing Route 1 at the crosswalk!
During the summer of 2017, Old South Church created a kickball team to increase youth bonding within the church. The team went 1-8 with many injuries, but it wasn’t a total loss. The first baseman, Phil, and the second baseman, Anne, had a chance to ‘hit’ it off. While the team only lasted one season, Anne and Phil are excited to celebrate the fulfillment of ‘youth bonding’ in the church with you all. Over the last 3+ years, Anne and Phil have had the chance to grow and change together. Anne has learned to tolerate board games and Phil has taken several Bar Method classes. Anne has gotten into watching the West Wing and Phil has gotten into cooking gluten-free food. More than anything, it has felt right ever since they started dating in October 2017. So when Phil proposed after a sunrise hike at the Blue Hills Reservation outside of Boston in July, one of our first thoughts went to how excited we were to share this joy with our dear friends and family. The relationships in our lives mean the world to us and we couldn’t be more excited to share this special day with all of you.
If you are wondering why we have so much conviction that we are right for each other, here are a few fun facts about us: 1. At Georgetown, Phil started a random acts of kindness club called GIVES (Georgetown Individuals Vocal and Energetic for Service). Meanwhile at Wellesley, Anne started one called Wellesley SMILES (Spontaneous Moments in the Lives of Everyday Students). 2. Anne and Phil both did theater in high school. They were both usually good enough to get the "fun" role: a named character with a goofy personality, but not good enough to be a star 3. Anne and Phil were both somewhat sporty in high school and LOVED the team camaraderie, but didn’t quite have ‘varsity’ level talent 4. Anne and Phil were both editors of their school newspapers in high school, where there was considerably less competition 5. Anne and Phil both have travelled a lot - with Anne taking a gap year in Ecuador and Phil knowing where Ecuador is 6. Anne and Phil are both vegetarians and are very aligned on our love of Ethiopian, Thai, and Indian food 7. Anne went to Wellesley and so did Phil’s grandmother, Roberta. (and that's where we *almost* got married!) 8. Anne and Phil love Disney, particularly Frozen, and are very grateful to Katherine, the groom’s sister for sharing her Disney+ log-in 9. Anne and Phil both sleep 9+ hours a night; otherwise we are largely incapable of operating happily in the world 10. Anne and Phil love their friends more than most things in the world
