The simple answer is we live here, but it’s also a central location for our friends and family traveling from the West and East Coast.
Our wedding venue is centrally located in downtown Kansas City, and there is plenty to do within walking distance, or within a quick cab ride. Whether or not you rent a car is your preference. If you choose not to, an Uber ride from the Kansas City (MCI) airport to downtown is roughly $35.00 one way.
#DCmeetsKC - it's a nod to Lauren's hometown of DC uniting with Jeff's Kansas City roots.

Some people are surprised to learn there is a Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri, which are two different cities. In fact, Kansas City, MO was a city before the state of Kansas came to be. The cultural identity of Kansas City (jazz history, BBQ, fountains, Chiefs, Royals, etc.) derives from the Missouri side, which is where the wedding is taking place. So, unfortunately, Wizard of Oz jokes will not apply if you’re visiting from out of town.
We met in 2010 in Chicago while serving as full-time mentors/tutors with City Year, a national education-focused nonprofit that helps keep students in school and on track to graduate. Jeff to this day still works for City Year, and the organization is something very close to both our hearts. In fact, five people in our wedding party also served with City Year in the past. We encourage our guests to learn more about this impactful organization by visiting www.cityyear.org.
A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colors because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.
