Question

what is the town of las terrenas like?

Answer

Las Terrenas, located on the Samaná Peninsula, is a charming beach town that blends European flair with Caribbean chill. Once a quiet fishing village, it’s now known for its laid-back vibe, stunning turquoise beaches, and a lively mix of French, Italian, and Dominican influences—thanks to a strong expat community. You’ll find delicious food, boutique shops, and beach bars all within walking distance of most accommodations. Expect warm weather, casual dress codes, and friendly locals who are happy to help. Whether you want to explore nearby waterfalls, try fresh seafood, or just relax by the ocean, Las Terrenas offers a little slice of paradise for everyone.

Question

why las terrenas?

Answer

Dayle grew up traveling to the Dominican Republic and has always been completely in love with the culture, the music, the warmth of the people, and of course… the beaches. It’s been her happy place for as long as she can remember. When she and Taylour took their first big post-COVID adventure together, she brought him to Las Terrenas — and within about five minutes (and maybe a few strong rum cocktails), he was hooked. The turquoise water, the palm trees, the late nights, the way the whole town feels like a secret you’re lucky enough to be in on — he fell just as hard as she did. Las Terrenas feels romantic, a little wild, wildly beautiful, and ready for a celebration — which feels very us. We truly cannot wait to share our favorite little slice of paradise with you and turn our “best kept secret” into the best party of our lives.

Question

what is a "soft rsvp?"

Answer

Since our wedding will require travel, we're asking guests for a soft RSVP to help with early planning. This isn't a firm commitment, just your best guess for now. Basically, if you know you won't be able to attend (or are leaning toward no), just let us know! It will really help us as we plan 🤍

Question

can i bring a guest?

Answer

We wish we could invite absolutely everyone, but due to limited space, we’re only able to host those specifically named on the invitation. If you have a plus-one, they’ll be listed! If not, we promise you’ll still have the best time on the dance floor with us. Thanks so much for understanding!

Question

are kids welcome?

Answer

Although we love your little ones, we’re planning an adults-only wedding day so everyone can let loose and celebrate with us. We completely understand that destination travel can make this tricky, so if you'd like to bring the family along for the trip, we’re happy to provide recommendations for highly rated local sitters and childcare services for the wedding events. Kangaroo Sitter is a babysitting team committed to caring for children with patience and love. You can find more about them and their services on Whatsapp and their Instagram (@kangaroositter). You can get to their Whatsapp catalog through the link in their bio or by entering +1 (849) 817-3945

Question

will i need cash?

Answer

Credit cards are accepted at most restaurants and bars, but cash is recommended for taxis and smaller vendors. US dollars are accepted, you would just have to do the conversion to not to be taken advantage of. Dominican Pesos are preferred. Dominican Republic also has a tip culture - tips are greatly appreciated!

Question

how can i get around las terrenas?

Answer

Las Terrenas is and isn't spread out. It features a dense, walkable town center filled with restaurants and shops, while the surrounding residential areas and beaches (like Cosón or Playa Bonita) are more spaced out, requiring ATVs, scooters, or taxis to navigate between them. The town itself is quite lively and bustling. One rental company we suggest is through Javier Valdez, who has boogies, ATVs, scooters and cars. His full catalog can be viewed on Whatsapp: +1 (809) 962-9261. Use the link below be directed to his Whatsapp: http://wa.me/18099629261 More suggestions to come. SCOOTERS & FOUR-WHEELERS (our preferred method of transportation within the town) Many people in Las Terrenas rent scooters or four-wheelers to get around. This is definitely our favorite way to get around, and to us, it makes Las Terrenas more of an experience. If you’re interested in renting one, we’re happy to connect you with a trusted rental contact. Please note that rentals typically require a temporary hold for incidentals. TAXIS Taxis are also an excellent and reliable way to get around. We recommend exchanging WhatsApp numbers with a taxi driver you trust and using them for the duration of your trip. Some hotels and AirBnbs have concierge services who can also assist with getting a taxi for you. CAR RENTAL While renting a car may be a great option if you plan on doing day trips and exploring during your stay, please be prepared for aggressive driving and road conditions that vary greatly. The highway from SDQ to Las Terrenas is a main highway that is scenic once you're closer to the coast. There are 3 or 4 tolls along the drive (depending on the route), which are 60-100 DR Pesos per toll - please note they ONLY take DR Pesos (No cards or USD) at the tolls, and getting cash at gas stations can be difficult, so we recommend you pull out DR Pesos before you leave the airport (ATM or currency exchange vendors).
