I was surfing Facebook through a long list of "people you may know" when I came across Viviana's profile. I thought I knew her from somewhere, but I realized I didn't after looking closer. It was while looking at her profile that I came to notice a fair skin, dark haired, yet beautiful young lady. She instantly caught my eye and I thought to myself, "Something is special about this girl." Debating whether I should reach out to her or not, I proceeded to investigate Dayana's Facebook profile as any normal person would (because let's face it, what we see on Facebook could predetermine whether someone is crazy or not). So, after doing some digging and liking everything I saw, I sent Dayana a friend request that same day but got no response. I proceeded to reach out to Viviana since I knew she and Dayana knew each other somehow. Viviana was able to tell me a little bit about her and then put a good word in for me as far as accepting my friend's request. However, Dayana requested that I directly message her before she would accept a friend's request.
My initial message led to many more conversations. Then, after getting well acquainted with one another through messenger, I invited her to come to ACL weekend with me since I had an extra ticket due to a friend canceling. She gladly accepted along with extending an invitation to a young adults service at Celebration Church which happened to be the weekend before ACL. I arrived to the young adult service early and waited for her inside. Then, she texted me that she was running late; the first of many texts to come relaying tardiness 😂. Finally, I saw an old regal Buick pull into a parking space and out stepped the woman who I had only seen in photos. She couldn't see me just yet through the glare of the church windows. My eyes were fixed on her nervously, hoping she was just as attracted to me as I was to her. She made her way into the building and I drifted off into what felt like a movie--daydreaming that we embraced like passionate lovers--or so I wished. As I came back to reality, we said hello to one another and proceeded to enter the auditorium. We sat in groups, round table style, and through different conversational topics, I began to really admire her values and way of thinking. Later that evening, we met up with two of her friends at IHOP and shared our first meal together. At IHOP I found out her sense of humor was very different and amusing. The night ended and on my ride home I called up one of my closest friends, Jesus, and said "I can see myself marrying this girl."
Shane told me he wanted professional pictures of us for a project at work so he set up a photo-shoot. Little did I know he had something totally different planned. So, we met the photographer early on a Saturday morning at the Brushy Creek Lake Park--where we have history of romantic picnics involving a blueberry fight and in other instances, deep conversations that determined the course of our relationship. Next thing I know we're relocating to a certain spot for a picture and he starts talking about how he's so glad that I'm there and that I am a part of his life. He went on to mention how we've had so many memories at this park...and by then I was starting to catch on to what was actually happening. He was laying his heart out for me as he dropped on one knee and popped the question. After getting over my moment of shock, I said “Yes!” with enthusiasm! Now, here we are getting ready to walk down the aisle and commit to loving each other for the rest of our lives.
