The Big Four® was built as a railroad bridge in 1895, and decommissioned in the 1960s, when the ramps to the bridge on both sides of the river were removed. Huber Joe Family Farm Orchard Restaurant

2421 Engle Road, Starlight, IN 47106
, (812) 923-5255

Hit this place up on your way to the winery. Amazing fried chicken served family style, a fun children's farm, and an old-timey store. You might recognize it from our engagement photos. Joseph Huber, Sr. (fourth generation) and his wife Mary, Purchased what is now the Joe Huber Family Farm in 1926. They became the proud parents of eleven children while they raised cattle and chickens. Mary dressed the chickens as needed for lunch and supper and the boys milked the cows daily. Back then, many of the farm hands resided at the farmhouse with the rest of the family during harvest, and Mary prepared three full meals each day for all. Eggs were fried up fresh from the barnyard for breakfast and everyone loved Grandma Mary’s chicken and dumplings for lunch. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, a variety of fresh vegetables from the garden, homemade rolls, fresh fruit pies and cobblers weren’t unusual fare for supper.

Huber's Orchard and Winery

19816 Huber Road, Borden, IN 47106
, (812) 923-9813

Huber's is very near and dear to our hearts. It is not only where we had our first date and our first kiss, it is also one of our favorite places to spend the afternoon. Amazing wines, we recommend Niagara, a great ice cream and cheese shop and a beautiful location. When in 1843, Simon Huber settled this Southern Indiana farm, he brought with him from Baden-Baden, Germany his years of experience in fruit growing and wine making. From its humble 80 acre beginning, the farm has expanded to over 600 acres. Simon’s vision has been perpetuated through the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th generation Huber’s living and working on the farm.
