Da'Von and Emilee’s journey together began on August 18, 2016, during freshman year move-in day at Florida Atlantic University. Emilee was returning to her dorm after cheer practice, while Da'Von and his friends were conducting surveys to meet other students moving in. The question? “What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?” They’d cross paths a few more times that semester, but didn’t interact beyond the occasional hello. The second time they met was on February 3, 2017, at the grand opening of Club Boca, where Emilee’s best friend, Kayla, introduced them. Afterward, they added each other on Snapchat. Da'Von reached out several times, but Emilee wasn't initially very responsive. With some encouragement from her friends, Maria and Kayla, Emilee decided to give him a chance. Their first time hanging out was on April 15, 2017, at an FAU baseball game—Da'Von’s very first baseball game. From there, their connection deepened, and they officially started dating on June 6, 2017. They dated for 10 months before realizing they needed some time apart. Despite the breakup, they stayed in touch and remained friends, navigating the complexities of their relationship over the next 8 months. During their junior year, Da'Von suffered an injury on the football field and with the holidays approaching, Emilee's mother reached out to check in on him and, unbeknownst to Emilee, invited Da'Von to spend Christmas with their family in North Carolina. That holiday season, Da'Von and Emilee reconnected and decided to give their relationship another shot. During their senior year, they moved in together and adopted a dog, which they named "Hollow". After graduation, Da'Von took a job coaching in Pennsylvania, which later led to a move to Mississippi to coach at Ole Miss. Emilee stayed in Florida to finish her Master’s degree, but in 2021, she joined Da'Von in Mississippi after graduating. Then, on January 13, 2023—Friday the 13th—Emilee and Da'Von received the surprise news that they were expecting their first child. Da'Von, thrilled, immediately said, “We need to get married next month.” While the pregnancy was unexpected, they were both ready to face the future together. They decided to focus on their growing family without the pressure of getting married immediately, knowing it would come soon enough. Shortly after, Da'Von was offered a coaching position at Western Kentucky University, and they moved to Kentucky to start this new chapter. During their baby shower and babymoon in Florida, Da'Von secretly worked with Emilee’s friend Kendall to design and purchase her engagement ring. On July 30, 2023, with Emilee seven months pregnant, Da'Von proposed at the restaurant 'Tony’s', and the entire staff was in on the surprise. The moment was even more special, marking a new chapter in their relationship. Their son, Da'Von also known as "DJ", arrived a month early on August 26,2023, just a week before the first game of the season. After the season wrapped up, they eagerly dove into planning their dream wedding. Now, they’re stepping into the next chapter of their lives, ready to celebrate their love and the beautiful family they’ve built together.
