Maid of Honor
Ellen is Mel's other half; in fact, they even have a song written about them. It is entitled "Mel & Elle" and they publicly danced to it together once, cocktails in hand (duh). They met as high school freshmen and bonded over their love of Viewmont Mall/Borders Friday nights and cheering for the Bruins. When Ellen tells a story and starts to laugh, Mel laughs uncontrollably even if she has no idea what Ellen is saying. 💕
Bridesmaid
Steph and Mel have been friends forever - like, back to the days of sprinting off the school bus and signing on to aim to write LiKe tHiS in Comic Sans. She's like, a super cool gal and brings the brightest, warmest energy to this army of bridesmaids.
Bridesmaid
Erica and Melanie have been friends since they were in second grade. They cried when they were not in each other's homerooms and had braces at the same time. Their bond has lasted over 20 years and yikes just as Mel read that out loud, she decided to end this little description right there.
Bridesmaid
Nadia and Mel have been gallivanting together for over 15 years. Nad is currently the loveliest mom of two who used to have Ginuwine's "Pony" as her ringtone. She has an infectious smile and Mel is super grateful they encountered each other's souls.
Bridesmaid
Jamie and Mel were third-grade classmates who shared a mutual interest in beanie babies and the song "Barbie Girl" by Aqua. Once, in 6th grade, a boy called Mel fat and Jamie retorted "Yeah, P-H-A-T." In high school, they were inseparable and could be found skipping out of class 5 minutes early to hide in the cafeteria to be the first in line for hot wing hoagies. Mel is over the moon to celebrate this day with Jamie.
Bridesmaid
Jess is Mel's cousin but is kinda more like a sister. Mel spent every single day in the summer with Jess until she was old enough to be trusted to not burn the house down while her parents were at work (so like, 13?). Mel and Jess enjoyed adventures to Hills, Nay Aug Park and the local convenient store to buy Spice Girl lollipops. Jess is also the only person Mel really truly trusts with her hair ✨
Bridesmaid
Michele is Mel's soulmate. They met as random freshman year roommates and fell madly in love. They enjoy going to concerts and pondering grammar. They once undertook a cross-country journey from Berkeley to Atlanta, but it was nothing compared to the time they took a bus from State College to NYC and drank coconut rum and Pepsi on the bus. Michele has repeatedly tried to poison Mel with beverages that are 90% alcohol and jello shots made in a microwave, but nevertheless, their love affair has persisted.
Bridesmaid
Elizabeth and Mel were wall-mates in college. Their relationship got off to a stony start, but once Elizabeth realized that Mel would provide her with endless entertainment in exchange for her socks on the 2 AM walk back to their dorm, she was all in. They navigated the weirdness of college together by trying to bunk their beds (unsuccessful) and doing acrobatics. Mel is currently crazy impressed by the adult Elizabeth has become.
Bridesmaid
Annie 🍌 and Mel first met at a Tom Petty concert through their future-husbands. Mel drank a bottle of gin and fell asleep during Tom's performance, much to the dismay of the EMTs on duty at the show. Annie did not judge. They have traveled all over together and especially enjoy brownies on the beach and Mex 1. Both Mel and Chris value the blurry mornings spent at Denny's with Annie and her fiance Mike and look forward to more in the future.
Bridesmaid
Jenny and Mel met as grad students at MUSC in Charleston. They have gone through alcohol phases together, from puerile vodka sprites to sophisticated gin and tonics. Although Jenny loves horses and Mel is deathly afraid of them, these two have been each other's rocks through the torturous journey of obtaining doctorates. Mel is secretly hoping that Jenny will leave Miami and move in with her forever.
Bridesmaid
Meaghan is Mel's roommate and only friend in Charleston. They share a love of their cats Phinny and Enid, Uber Eats, Netflix, and Target. They traveled to Mexico together and survived. They evacuated for a hurricane with the cats only to have the cats burrow in the beds of the La Quinta (shameful). Meaghan has been to Scranton once and is willing to return for the wedding - for that, Mel is super super grateful.
Bridesmaid
Chelsea is Chris' sister, but Mel met her back in the mid-2000s when they were forced to lift a human body above their heads together while "Sexy Back" played in the background. AKA they cheered together. Chels is an actual dream of a future sister-in-law and is hands down Mel's favorite person to shop for at Christmas. 🎀
Bridesmaid
Lauren and Mel actually met back in like, 2008, *and* there is photographic evidence of it, but they became super close over the past 2 years. Lauren is generous and supportive even though she is an absolute nutcase who gets up really really early. Mel is looking forward to being in Lauren's wedding over the summer and cannot wait to celebrate everything in life with this girl.
Bridesmaid
Mia is Chris' sister-in-law but Mel thinks she and Mia have a bond in their own right. Mia is a trailblazer in navigating Chris' large extended (and amazing) family and gives Mel the confidence that someday she too might know everyone's name. Mia and Mel are both dark-haired gals who crunch numbers and enjoy a glass of champagne. Mel is elated that they'll share a last name too.
Bridesmaid
Mel met Mindy at a diner, where Mel was a waitress and Mindy was the hostess the summer after their freshman year of college. Mel thought Mindy was a total b because she got to wear khakis and cute shirts from Abercrombie and Fitch. Little did Mel know that Mindy would become such a constant in her life for the next 10 years. Although both highly educated, when together, Mel and Mindy do really dumb things like leave a car running while they see a movie and try to escape an automatic gate. They've been together for so long - and through so much - that Mel could not even fathom her wedding day without Mindy 💖
