At a bar. They met at a bar. In the Hill Section of Scranton on the eve of Chris' favorite holiday: St. Patrick's Day. He was in town only for the weekend, soon returning to Harrisburg to finish up the final months of law school. Mel was also only briefly making her appearance in the Electric City: it was spring break and she would head back to Charleston only 36 hours later. Mel spotted Chris from across the room - he claims it was the other way around - and she headed to the bar to take back some Swedish Fish shots with her girls. They chatted easily but when Chris asked for Mel's number, she told him she would find him on Facebook. Inevitably, but only after thoroughly vetting him on social media, she gave in, and they texted each other every second of every day for the next 3 months. Common topics of conversation: The Maury show, pineapple pizza, and Mel's cat. Nearly 800 miles apart, they finally reunited over Fourth of July weekend and had their first date at a lookout spot off the highway. Lame? Maybe, but to Mel, Chris will always be a cool senior guy when she was a nerdy freshman, so it was sort of a dream come true. Since that moment, for the past five years, Chris and Mel have been a unit, albeit from Pennsylvania and South Carolina, respectively. They are annoyingly obsessed with one another and are crazy excited to finally live in the same place. Oh, and to get married, too. Super excited to get married.
