Katie and Chris met as volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) at Boston College. Katie worked hard to revive the struggling EMS organization, ultimately serving as President and transitioning leadership to Chris who then held the same position. Katie and Chris were never more than close friends but always had a special bond. After a few years, in 2015, Katie tried to recruit Chris to her company but he declined the job offer. In 2016, Katie needed a break from work and what better way to get away than head to the Jersey Shore. That September night the two grabbed dinner, went dancing, and have been inseparable ever since.

For Katie's 30th birthday, Chris planned a two week trip to Paris and Italy. One week into the trip on September 20th 2018, Katie and Chris were staying at Capri Palace on the island of Capri, Italy. The two had enjoyed a private boat tour around the island during the day, later grabbed drinks at the hotel bar, and planned to go to the 3rd-floor patio to see the sunset. Little did Katie know - the 'patio' was a private suite & terrace with the hotel staff secretly hiding in the distance with champagne. Chris dropped down on one knee, pulled out a match box (the only way to transport the ring around for the evening) and proposed. Katie said yes and the rest is history. They spent the next week driving along the Amalfi Coast and through the mountains of central Italy.
