Travel Tips & Lodging

Here you can find all the important travel info you will need and options for lodging. -We do have cabin and room blocks available at Paddle Ridge during the wedding. -A rental car is highly recommended though there will be some shuttle options available for activities as well as Uber/Lyft. -Whitefish is a popular place to stay with a lot of great Air BNB-type rentals and hotels available. This area is about 30 minutes or so from the entrance to Glacier and Paddle Ridge. -Below we listed a few of the hotels in the Whitefish area but a simple Google search will allow you to find hotels in that area that suit your travel dates and budget. Wesbites such as booking.com or expedia.com may have better options.

Flight

Glacier's airport

Glacier International Airport is located in Kalispell, next to Whitefish. This is the airport you would fly into. If you click on airlines you can see all the airlines that fly into here and what major cities you can fly from. We have found incredibly cheap prices in advance and whenever there is a sale, especially with Avelo Air. If coming from LA you even have the option of Burbank over LAX. We would recommend renting a car as uber is more limited and not as available as it is in major cities.

Hotel

Paddle Ridge

12400 U.S. Route 2, West Glacier, MT 59936

This is where the wedding venue is and where the ceremony, reception, and after-party will be held. It would be a great idea to book here for the night of the wedding so you can get ready on-site and easily take a short safe walk on-site back to your cabin or room after the festivities have concluded. Group blocks will be available.

Travel Note

Vehicle reservations

Many of the roads inside Glacier National park require vehicle reservations that must be purchased ahead of time. This includes the west entrance (closest to us) and driving the historic "Going to the sun road". You DO NOT need to get a vehicle reservation to attend our wedding. This is only for the days/times you would want to enter the park for hiking and activities. The only way to bypass this is if you are lodging inside the park or if you enter before 6 a.m. or after 3 p.m. There is a lot to do and see after 3 p.m. before sunset at 10 p.m. with considerably less crowded roads and trails. If it is important to you to be in the park for the whole day be sure to get a reservation ahead of time as they do sell out. Reservation blocks become available 120 days before the entrance date. Therefore, you will want to visit the site and purchase around March 8th, 2024. The cost is about $2 per vehicle.

Travel Note

Park Entrance Pass

Separately from the vehicle reservation passes, all visitors entering the park must pay an entrance fee. This can be done at the park on the day of or ahead of time on the site. The fee is $35 per vehicle or you can purchase an interagency pass such as an "America the Beautiful" pass. The fee for this pass is $80 and you get unlimited entrances into all of America's national parks for one year. They offer military and senior annual ATB passes at a huge discount. If you have a fourth grader with you ATB is free. We highly recommend this pass and hope you will be inspired to spend time visiting our incredible national parks this year. *Reminder: No pass is required to attend our wedding.

Glacier National Park Lodges

There are many lodging options inside Glacier National Park. Reservations for lodging inside the park tend to be booked up a year in advance or more. If you would like to stay at one of the lodging options in the park you will have to pay attention to cancellations regularly in order to find a reservation. This website will provide a pretty clear list. Keep in mind some of the hotels are a very far drive through the park to get to the wedding venue.
