We met in 2019 at Moonlight Roller Skating Rink in Glendale, California. Our story began when he took a hard fall right behind me. Concerned, I turned around and asked if he was okay. He quickly got up, trying to play it cool, and said he was fine before skating off. Throughout the night, we kept stealing glances at each other, but neither of us had the courage to make the first move. As the night went on, Conner decided he was done skating and headed off the rink to take off his skates. I noticed and skated off too, stopping just far enough away to (hopefully) catch his attention. I even called my cousin, Neicei, for a pep talk to build up the confidence to say hi—but it didn’t work. Nervous, I ended up skating back onto the rink. Luckily, fate had other plans. Conner’s coworker, Zak, noticed me checking him out and encouraged him to ask for my number. Conner laced his skates back up, found me on the rink, and we shared the last three slow-dance songs of the night together. Before the rink closed, I gave him my number. That moment sparked the beginning of our love story. Five years later, on that very same day, we got engaged!!!
