We ate at Fitger’s while we vacationed in Duluth and the food was excellent. Get a seat at the back of the restaurant for a view of the lake while you eat. The smokehouse is Russell Hoge's favorite! When in town for Robotics, a stop here is a must. So good!
Duluth has ten local breweries in the area. They even have their own 'Beer Trail'. Dave and I love checking out local breweries as we travel and Duluth is no exception. We're still working on the trail ourselves. Look us up on Untapped if you haven't already. Also, check out the brewery tours! Just google ‘the Duluth Experience’ and hop on the bus.
Canal park has some of my favorite places to shop. All of their shops are so unique and fun. I (Sophie) can (and have) spend hours here. Some of my favorite shops are: Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Global Village, Duluth Trading Company and Electric Fetus.
One of the first trips Dave and I took together was to Duluth. We camped up north at the Gooseberry Falls State Park. It's a bit of a drive but the falls are beautiful and the campsite was right on the lake. If you have a little extra time while here we highly suggest making the trip! Travel just a hair farther north to check out the Split Rock Lighthouse if you enjoy history. Enjoy the trip even more by taking the North Shore Scenic drive on your way up.
Dave and I have been ‘collecting’ zoos on our travels, so these are both big items on our to do list! We both love animals and love aquariums. I have heard nothing but great things about both of these places!
This is another great place to check out if you have children. They have daily children's programs and 25,000 historical items.
We enjoyed this museum so much on our first trip. It's right in canal park in the heart of things and great for adults and kids. Plus its a quick trip if you're looking for something quick and easy!
I (Sophie) checked out this gem with Russell and some robotics students. We all had a blast (Dad made a great train expert/tour guide). You can spend a short time or many hours getting lost in history in this great museum. They have locomotives from the past few decades you can climb in and explore.
