Shannon and David both take complete credit for how they first met. It was the first week of winter classes and they were both in an Ethics of Agriculture class. They sat within two rows of each other, and both noticed each other sitting near-by. Shannon knew she wanted to be in a group with David, and he knew he wanted to be in a group with her. When the class period came to choose the groups for the rest of the quarter they both attempted to get into a group with each other, and luckily they did! From that day on each class they were required to talk with each other and get to know each other. Luckily for David, the group had decided to pass around a piece of paper for each member to write down their contact info. David took a picture and two days later texted Shannon about the project, she responded excitedly, and he didn’t respond. David played hard to get, making Shannon go crazy and think he wasn’t into her. After a few class periods David invited Shannon to go grab a coffee together if she had some free time, she was happy to say yes even though she didn’t really like coffee at that time. Every class after that Shannon and David had a standing date to go to the coffee shop together and sit and talk for almost two hours between their classes. They were lucky enough to be able to get to know each other very well for over a month and get all those awkward “First date questions” out of the way in a relaxed and enjoyable manner.
After a month of sitting outside and getting to know each other after class David started a little competition. He turned to Shannon and said, "I bet I will get a better grade on the paper due this week than you!" Shannon disagreed knowing she was a straight A student and good enough at essays. So Shannon replied, "There is no way you will, I will totally do better than you!" So David proposed a question that was the beginning of the end, "Wanna make a bet? " Shannon agreed so David asked her what she wanted if she got a better grade, her reply, "A Cookie!" David laughed and Shannon asked what he wanted his reply, "I want to take you out dancing..." Shannon's face immediately went bright red and she asked to change her bet, David said no. Two weeks later they got their grades back, they both got 100% on their essays, and they both had to show proof to the other. So they compromised and David took Shannon out on a date to Hollywood, CA. They were supposed to go to a comedy show, missed it by two minutes and ended up walking up and down Hollywood Boulevard, David researched where Matt Damon's star was to take Shannon to go see, they went to the Ghiradelli chocolate store and got a sundae that Shannon spilled down the front of her, and they held hands and walked up and down the street just talking and enjoying the night together. From there on out they went on a date every Friday after that. On March 19th, 2015, the day before Shannon went home for Spring Break, David and Shannon went to a salsa dancing class and that night David played So Impossible on his guitar for Shannon, he then asked her to be his girlfriend. She said yes and flew home on cloud nine.
Shannon and David has been together for almost 4 years and still happy and very much in love with each other. Davids family made plans months prior to come up to Oregon to celebrate Christmas and were flying in Saturday Dec. 22nd. Shannon and David had made plans earlier that week to go on a horseback ride that morning, before his family got in, so they went out and enjoyed a fairly cold morning on the horses with Remy running along with them. They both had errands and last minute Christmas things to take care of so they parted ways and said they would keep in contact and meet up when Davids family got settled. Shannon had just gotten home when David called and told her his family got the plans mixed up and that they were headed to the farm! Shannon still dirty and in horse clothes ran and changed her clothes and hurried back to the farm. David had sent her a text saying where they were at on the farm so Shannon went up to that area and when she got there David was standing waiting for her. He told her to close her eyes and guided her into her favorite barn. David told her to keep her eyes covered and started to play some music (first only on his phone, then got it connected to the blue-tooth speaker) and told Shannon she could open up here eyes. David had strung lights around and had a few candles burning. He told Shannon how much he loved her and how he can't imagine going through life with anyone else. David got down on one knee and asked, "Shannon, will you marry me?" In typical fashion Shannon said, "Always... I mean yes!"
