We're getting married!

It all began on a rainy Saturday morning. What started as a working day for Mariana and a favor of David for his brother ended up being the beginning of their lives together. Between David's bad jokes, Mariana's laughter, the endless looks and smiles, the teasing between Real Madrid and Barca, and looking for each other in the room... David decided to write his phone number on Mariana's notes, without a name, and then he left. Mariana texted him later that day, they talked, and he asked her out on a dinner date for the following day. This became the first of many yeses in their future. On the first date, they talked until the restaurant closed. On their way back, under the rhythm of Ed Sheeran's Shivers, David kissed Mariana. After more than a month of talking and going on dates, on December 23rd, David asks Mariana to be his girlfriend officially. Over a year later, David started applying for Medical Schools, until May 2023 when he got the news, he would be accepted into KansasCOM's medical school Class of 2027. That meant an incredible achievement for David, but also one of the biggest challenges: a long distance relationship. In July 2023 David moved to Kansas, and for a whole year they navigated the difficulties of being apart. David being in school and Mariana working 3 jobs. After a lot of thought and great support in Mariana, in September David swore an oath to serve the US Navy as he was accepted on a full-ride scholarship. By the end of the school year in May, they decided to move in together. In July 2024, Mariana moved to Kansas. They thought that's it, no more challenges... they were wrong! Second year of med school is no joke, especially when David was the President of Student Government, and with this role came more duties and expectations. Mariana was adapting to Kansas, to a life without her friends, her jobs and her family. It took a while, but they grew so much together. In June 2025, they took a last minute trip to Florida, to visit family for father's day; at least that is what Mariana thought. David asked her out for lunch to her favorite spot, Planta Queen, and with tears in his eyes and shaking hands he went down on one knee and asked Mariana to be with him forever, and she said yes! Now they get to celebrate their love, resilience and commitment with the people they love, you.
