Once upon a time… there was a global pandemic. David and Marg met on the day NYC went into lockdown when a mutual friend of theirs, Zev, invited them both to play Dungeons and Dragons online with himself and other friends. The group met weekly over the next several months to build a magical world through storytelling and dice. It didn’t take long for David to fall for Marg, but a real relationship seemed impossible: they lived in different states, kept small covid pods to protect loved ones, and Marg had sworn off men. A little over a year later, once everyone was vaccinated and things were starting to open up, Marg invited David on a group picnic… to set David up with her best friend! David was a nice Jewish boy from a good family, what more could you ask for? The setup seemed like a good idea at the time, but David only had eyes for Marg. When David moved back to the city, Marg had the opportunity to examine her feelings. She recalled gazing longingly at him in his Zoom rectangle when they played D&D. He was “Brummer” to his friends, but she only ever wanted to call him "David." It finally dawned on her that there might be something more going on than she originally thought... In March 2022, two years into their friendship, fate intervened. When Zev and his wife Leslie needed someone to watch their dog Mini for a week, David and Marg volunteered to help. A miscommunication led to an overlap on the same evening, so Marg invited David to stay for dinner. This was the first time the two of them had ever hung out alone. While sitting on the floor playing fetch with Mini, Marg asked David lots of questions. "Are you looking for a serious relationship?" "Do you want to be a dad?" "What does being Jewish mean to you?" David did not think this line of questioning was strange at all, and was happy to talk about what they both valued. After two years of mutual pining, David and Marg figured out that they were secretly crushing on each other! One week later, on April 1st, 2022, they went on their first date. Eight months later they moved in together to a new apartment in Astoria and adopted their sweet yellow cat, Carson. Finally, in February 2024, David proposed to Marg in the very spot in Zev and Leslie’s apartment where Marg interrogated him. Down on one knee David said, “That night, you asked me so many questions, but I only have one question for you… Will you marry me?” That’s where you come in!
