Hiking

There are a myriad of hiking trails in the Snowy Range ranging from easy to quite difficult. All are at high elevation, starting at around 8,500 - 10,000 feet. Please be prepared for hiking at elevation including the need for extra water and many layers of clothing, including rain gear, as the weather can change quickly. There are many historical museums in the area that are fascinating and paint a wonderful picture of the Old West at it’s finest. We recommend the following: --- Laramie --- Wyoming Territorial Prison Laramie Plains Museum University of Wyoming Art Museum University of Wyoming Geological Museum American Heritage Center University of Wyoming Anthropology Museum University of Wyoming Archeology Museum Wyoming Women’s History Museum Laramie Railroad Depot --- Centennial --- Nici Self Museum (Centennial Historical Museum) --- Saratoga --- Grand Encampment Museum (20 miles outside of Saratoga) --- Cheyenne --- The Wyoming State Capital Building is a gem of western architecture and art, well worth the visit if you have time

Here are a few we recommend. <><> Picturesque <><> Drive the Snowy Range Scenic Bysay Visit and picnic at Lake Marie, Mirror Lake or The Gap Lakes <><> Fun // Shopping <><> Saratoga -- Take a soak in the hot springs and have an ice cream on main street; great art galleries Laramie -- Take a bike tour of Laramie or walk the University of Wyoming Campus; visit Pilot Butte for fun local hiking and great views of the Laramie Valley Worth a walk along 2nd and 3rd street shops

Visit the ‘Visitlaramie.org’ website for activities in the area September 4, 2:00pm -- The Wyoming Cowboys play the Montana State Bobcats at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie - tickets can be obtained via the Wyoming Cowboys website
