You know who I am
Matron of Honor
Kristy and I met our second semester at SUNY Canton. I was suddenly pushed into an awful living situation Spring of 2013. I asked our Resident Director if there was anything she could do, move me to another room, something. She pointed me to a room on the third floor where there was a girl living by herself. I walked up there and knocked on her door. A five foot nothing red haired girl answered. I said "Hi I'm Darby, I'm living in a triple room where my roommate that I liked just moved out and and the roommate that I don't like's friend is moving in the same day and it is not working out, is there anyway I could move in with you? I am in the vet tech program" This all came rushing out with very little punctuation and also somewhat frantic. Kristy kind of paused and just said "That's a shitty situation" She said yes and that I could move in on Thursday. (I later found out she was not super excited about me moving in). I moved in and we were both so scared of bothering the other. She was/is so sweet and I remember having moments like when you're a kid at a sleep over and you just sit there in the dark and talk all night. One night, one of us was was describing a book they had as a kid where it described different dragons and had samples of dragon skin and little envelopes and things and the other quickly said "Dragonology!" And that was the moment I realized we were going to be best friends. We have been through a lot together since then including my wedding day.

Bridesmaid
Amanda started work at Cornell in 2018 and that's when I met her. We quickly bonded over our love of books and she has been my work wife ever since. We have had many day trips to various book stores and lovely day adventures. She has really been an important friendship here in Ithaca. Before she moved here I spent 2 years in Ithaca not really having friends and not really exploring the place I lived and worked. She has helped pull me out into the world and explore new places. She is such a kind and compassionate person, especially when it comes to the most dapper cat in the world, Pickles. She is also such a fierce friend. Amanda will go out of her way to make your day better whether it be a coffee or something she saw that made her think of you. I am so glad to call her my friend and share this experience with her.
Bridesmaid
Jillian is my amazing niece. I have gotten the privilege of watching her grow into an intelligent, capable, beautiful young woman inside and out. She is the first one to make me an aunt and at 13, I was so proud to take on that role. It has been hard not being physically there a lot but I love hearing about all of her endeavors. She inspires me and is way cooler than I'll ever be. She reminds me of myself in that she is not afraid to be herself. It is so rare to meet someone so genuine and I can't wait to see what the future holds for her.
