How David and Dalena met seemed like pure happenstance. The lives of both seem to simply dance around one another, but merely missing the other. Until Hurricane Harvey hit Houston in 2017. While volunteering to help make care packages for those affected by the hurricane, Dalena instantly clicked with Elizabeth, who - unbeknownst to Dalena - was actually David's cousin. The two became quick friends and through dinners, amusing conversations, and banter, Dalena grew increasingly close to the family and to a very particular person - David. Before long, David and Dalena found themselves spending more time together in between the usual times with the rest of the family. "When I tell you: a woman's intuition is never wrong, it's the truth," Dalena imparts. Four days before the proposal, Dalena had her hair and nails done simply because of a feeling. And good thing she did! The day of the proposal was so incredibly chaotic. It felt like everything that could go wrong, was. As Dalena puts it, "...a want to go home right now and find the biggest wine glass I owned kind-of-day. Throw in a massive headache and uncomfortable heels and it was a swan dive from there". In an attempt to cheer her up, David suggested taking Dalena to her favorite plant nursery. And it worked, she couldn't refuse. A missed turn led the couple into a clearing where a park was. And at the edge of a lake - was a picturesque little gazebo where David asked her to marry him. The Chiefs weren't the only ones that got a ring that day.
