Our Wedding Party

Meet our wedding party - the family and friends we are so fortunate to have standing by our side on our special day!

Christine Fu

Matron of Honor

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love and admire my sister. Christine is the real Wonder Woman out there saving the world as she currently works at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva, Switzerland. She earned her PhD in Public Health from JHU all while getting engaged, married, and having her first-born Joshua. Despite our age gap of 8 years, Christine and I are as close as two peas in a pod. Our parents always told us to that no matter what happens in this world, we cannot lose our bond. I know that we never will. I'm so incredibly fortunate to have Christine as my sister, now Matron of Honor, to share this next journey of my life with her by my side.

Stephanie Aines

Bridesmaid

I heard her name in January 2016 but never officially got to meet the amazing community organizer who worked on the Obama campaign and is fighting for a better, more just world. Steph joined the Lown Institute the following month and her positivity, passion for community organizing, and generosity has been so incredibly infectious. Steph quickly became my partner in crime at work. I've grown as a person in many ways, learned to see the world, communicate with people, and share my story because of meeting Steph. She has taught me so much in such a short period of time, and I'm so fortunate to call her my friend. Ask us what "Cookie Monster Wants" when you see us.

Miyako Yerick

Bridesmaid

Koko and I have traveled (and still are traveling) along a similar path in life over the past many years which has made it easy to confide in each other on basically anything. From our drive to be the best in the world in Taekwondo as she is also my current Women's Team teammate, to going through graduate school at the same time (along with all the harsh realities of being a poor grad student) to finding jobs post graduation, to dating, to getting engaged within one week of each other, to planning our weddings simultaneously, etc. The list goes on and will continue to grow! We've been through a lot together and I cannot wait for what's in store for us in the future!

Machine (Michelle) Chen

Bridesmaid

Even though we first met nearly a decade ago, our friendship developed more rapidly as a result of us teaming together for competitions along with Miyako Yerick. From Bali to Mexico to China, our travels together naturally led to a growing friendship. I admire Machine for her ability to find joy in life, her uncanny superpower to talk to strangers and find out their life stories, and for her open-heartedness. Currently working as a software engineer for a healthcare startup working on improving health systems, Machine is the little sister I never had.

Tara Sarathi

Bridesmaid

"My #1 Fan" - Tara is the one person I can always count on to stay positive through absolutely anything. I've known Tara for nearly a decade, competed together in the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference, and we eventually became the organizers of the league's Tournament Committee. If you've ever seen Pacific Rim (if you haven't, look it up!), we are like two pilots manning a Jaeger. That's how connected we are when we work together. We go through many stressful events together each year when hosting competitions but always wind up smiling at the end of it. With Tara by my side, I know things will always be okay in the end.
