I know that an international trip just to party with some friends is a lot to ask for. We understand that not everyone is going to make it. We are super excited to share an airbnb with friends and family, and have a celebratory dinner after!
You can stay wherever your heart desires! There is lodging for every budget and for every adventure you may be seeking. Our ceremony will be on the South side of Iceland. We have a big house booked already for those who have previously RSVP'd.
You can come to Iceland for however long you want! You can make it your own mini vacation, or you can make it a pitstop on the way to Europe! We plan on exploring the entire island over 2 weeks.
No worries if the trip is not feasible! We plan on having a celebration or a #HappilyEverAfter party back home. More details to come on this.
While Iceland has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, the weather leaves little to be desired. It is COLD, even in the summer! The highs only get into the 50's (F) and it is quite windy the majority of the time. The weather changes every hour, so even though it is a downpour at 9am, give it half an hour and drive 20 minutes down the road and you may just see sunshine and rainbows. To summarize: PACK WARM and bring waterproof gear!
While the official language of Iceland is Icelandic, almost all Icelanders speak English which makes travel very easy!
The Midnight Sun refers to the incredibly long days that Iceland experiences near the summer solstice. In fact, the sun may only set for about 2-3 hours in June, leaving a lot of the night sky lit up by twilight. This makes for gorgeous golden hours that last forever, and plenty of time for sight-seeing into the late hours of the night or early morning. If you are a sleeper that needs complete darkness, you should definitely bring an eye mask and book lodging with blackout curtains.
Unfortunately, you will not see the Aurora Borealis. Due to the Midnight Sun and the wedding being in the summer, there is practically no chance at seeing the northern lights because it's just too bright. You'll just have to visit in the fall or springtime for your best chance to see them, but be prepared for even colder and more unpredictable weather!
