Question

What is a Coptic Orthodox wedding ceremony?

Answer

The Coptic Orthodox wedding ceremony is a sacred and symbolic celebration rooted in early Christian tradition. It includes ancient prayers, hymns, and rituals conducted in English, with some parts in Coptic or Arabic. Key moments include: The Crowning – The bride and groom are crowned as king and queen of their new household. The Blessing of the Rings – Symbolizing unity and eternal love. Processions and Scripture Readings – Filled with prayers for peace, love, and a strong marriage. You don’t need to know or do anything special — just come, take it in, and enjoy the beauty of a tradition that has been passed down since the original church under St. Mark.

Question

Are you streaming the wedding ceremony?

Answer

For our loved ones joining from afar, St. Mary’s Coptic Church livestreams wedding ceremonies online. You’ll be able to watch the service in real time using any of the links below: https://www.youtube.com/c/saintmaryeb https://saint-mary.net/live https://facebook.com/saintmary.nj We’re grateful to have you with us in spirit, even from miles away.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We’re working with limited space at our venue, so our guest list is a bit of a puzzle! If you’d like to bring a guest, just let us know—we’ll do our best to make it work as we receive RSVPs.

Question

Can I bring children?

Answer

While we love your little ones, we kindly ask that only children from our immediate families attend the wedding. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Your presence on our big day is the best gift we could ask for! If you still feel inclined to give something, there will be a gift box at the reception for cards. Thank you for your love and support! P.S. We’ve already received quite a few fire extinguishers—feel free to keep yours! (David has made it a tradition to gift them to friends at their weddings.)
