San DIego to Ensenada, Crossing the Border

For our US guests, make sure to have your passport with you. When crossing, you generally have two options: walking or driving. Walking southbound across the border is a breeze. The return into the US may take 30-60 minutes. From TJ, there are two options to travel down to the hotel in Ensenada: by taxi or by bus. The taxis run about $60-$75 each way. The ABC bus runs every 30 minutes and is ~$10 each way, with wifi and TVs in the headrest. Driving into Mexico is typically smooth with little wait time. However, returning from Mexico to the US can take hours sitting in traffic. To reduce this wait, an option is to apply for the Sentri Pass. This pass allows you to get into the express lane to cross the border. The wait time is typically less than 30 minutes from Mexico to the US. It is important to get the SENTRI application process started as early as possible as there are several steps, including an in person interview, which may take several weeks to process.

Tijuana Airport

The closest airport to the hotel is Tijuana-Rodriguez Int Airport, which is 66.48 miles/107 kilometers from Punta Morro (or 2 hour drive). The most direct road is by the coast but there are at least 2 tolls at about $30-45 pesos depending on the toll booth. They also accept dollars (~$2 /each). El aeropuerto mas cercano al hotel es Tijuana-Rodriguez Aeropuerto Internacional localizado 107 kilómetros de Punta Morro (apróximadamente 2 horas dirección sur por carretera). El camino directo del aeropuerto a Punta Morro require de 2 casetas de peaje a costo de $30-$45 pesos. Las casetas acceptan dólares.

San Diego Airport

For our non Mexico guests, you may find it cheaper to fly into the San Diego Airport instead of the TJ international airport. We recommend checking out Kayak.com to compare prices. If flying to San Diego is a better deal let us know.

For our US guests, if you are traveling to the venue via your private vehicle and are concerned about your car being covered in Mexico, you can get temporary insurance coverage through Baja Bound. Baja Bound offers temporary car insurance per day for a pretty decent price.
