In 2019, Adam flew to San Francisco from New York to participate in his first AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from SF to LA to raise money for AIDS charities. Dave was participating in his ninth ride, and both of them found themselves at a recovery meeting in the Castro the Friday night before the ride. While they met briefly at the meeting, Dave was busy "glad-handing" (as Adam likes to call it) as he was co-captain of Trudging Buddies, the sober cycling team, that year (Adam is co-captain this year). They really connected a few days later on the ride and the rest is history. They chose Cambria, CA as the location for the wedding because it is the exact halfway point of AIDS/LifeCycle, which has been a significant factor in their story for the past five years.
